Maybe I'm in a weather funk or something?  I've been doing a lot of people watching lately and have come up with some very distressing observations.  Why is everyone so self absorbed????  Why do they have to find a way to make any given situation about them?  You share a story....they have a better one.  Someone has a death in the family....they wonder how this might adversely impact their schedule.   Someone is sick....they've been sicker and for a longer period of time.   Someone is happy or gets some acknowlegement.....they try to cut them down to size.   I just don't get it!  Have we totally lost sight of the fact we are supposed to encourage each other and want the best for each other?  It makes me really, really sad.  I look around and see people so attached to their cellphones and blackberries that they can't have a live conversation with anyone without checking to see if "anyone better" is emailing or texting????  What is with that? There seems to be a whole lot more of " what can you do for me? than "what can I do for you"?  I guess it was named correctly...the "me" generation.....or from what I've experienced recently "the me, me , me" generation.  What a shame!
