I'm never playing Wii ever again....

Monday, July 19, 2010

I have always heard of "Wii-related injuries" but never experienced any... until this weekend.

I'm not really into video games at all but my parents have a Wii and lots of my friends do as well, so I thought why not give it a shot this weekend. I was actually having a lot of fun (and working up a sweat) playing sword fighting and boxing... you'd think I'd get hurt by accident while waving my arms around frantically during sword fighting or boxing, but no. I did not. I got hurt playing Wii frisbee. You can laugh if you'd like. In fact, I encourage it.

I guess I was standing too close to my friend who was throwing the Wii frisbee. My friend's arm whipped back to toss the frisbee... and the Wii controller went full force straight into my eye, knocking me to the ground. I swear I saw stars. I couldn't even see for about two minutes. My friend felt horrible, and I felt horrible for my friend too! It was a complete accident... but it hurt pretty badly!

I went to the bathroom to check on my eye, and sure enough... there was some damage done. A blood vessel broke on the side of my eye and underneath my eye was a bruise. My mom convinced me to go to the doctor just to check out my eye, so I did. The doc asked me what happened... and I had to explain that this happened during an intense game of Wii frisbee. He just shook his head at me.

He cleaned out my eye with Saline Solution... but because I talk so much (have you noticed?) when he was pouring it into my eye while I was talking, I ended up swallowing half of it! He told me if I talked less, it wouldn't happen. Yikes!

So now I have to put anti-bacterial eyedrops in my eye twice a day, and walk around with a huge red spot in my eye and a bruise under my eye. The worst part is explaining to people who ask what actually happened.

I'm staying away from anybody's Wii. And I have to be extra careful not to put my dog Snicker's eyedrops in my eyes instead of mine by accident too:)
