Guys really don't like to shop, do they?

Thursday, October 29, 2009

I always knew men didn't like to shop, but I still dragged my ex boyfriends to the mall occasionally.

I'm excited to dress up for Halloween this year, and I decided to bring my boyfriend Andrew with me to the store to help me decide on a costume because there are so many to choose  from.

You wouldn't believe the line up at the store I got my costume from, I felt like I was at Canada's Wonderland, waiting behind the rope there to even get in to look at the costumes.

We browsed through the pictures of hundreds of costumes and I saw one that caught my eye earlier- a female cop uniform! I love it, I believe it's exact title was "Officer Frisky" Ooh la la!

So after the workers at the store radio to the back to bring out the costume (it's quite the process there) I waited in line to try the Officer Frisky costume on. Unfortunately, there weren't changerooms, so everyone there had to try on their costume in front of a couple of mirrors- I was wearing a hooded sweater which was already too big for me, so I knew I'd have trouble deciding whether the costume would fit or not.

I'm standing in front of the mirror, trying to squeeze into the cop uniform with a big hooded sweater on and I can't decide what size to take. I can see my boyfriend is getting a bit impatient... keep in mind, I've asked him about 10 times at this point if the size is good and I keep turning from side to side in the mirror trying to decide.

I decide on the small size for the dress, but there's a problem- Officer Frisky's utility belt is too small! Ahh yes, the joys of having hips ladies!  So we start all over again, with a bigger sized costume so I can get a bigger belt.. but now the dress is too big! "Andrew, is this dress too big? Do I look fat? Maybe I should just stick with the smaller size.... I wish they made a bigger belt for the small dress..." I went on for about 15 minutes, plus it was getting hot and stuffy with people all around us crowding us and waiting to get to the mirror.

My boyfriend, who was happy at first that I was going to be Officer Frisky, was losing his patience, poor guy:) Men really don't like to shop... if you haven't bought your Halloween costume yet, I suggest when you go look for it, leave your man at home... he'll be happier that way!

Oh, I forgot to mention (and only this would happen to me...) the handcuffs were missing from my officer uniform, so I had to drive back to the store last night, and in front of the huge line up at the cash register, inform the worker that "the handcuffs are missing from my Officer Frisky costume". Gotta love Halloween!
