Okay, I'm tired of being looked at as some sort of 'freak' when I order food in restaurants.
Sure, I have a very skewed view of what tastes good and what doesn't... I don't like pizza, ketchup, any type of sauce on my food, I'm not a huge fan of bread and I don't like to taste of soda- the fizziness hurts my tongue. I've mentioned my love of eating the paper wrapper off of a muffin, I love french fries dipped in ice cream, I like eating a bite of soup then a bite of ice cream until each bowl is done. I get it, it's a little abnormal, but I don't need to feel like a freak when I order my food.
The other day I was at a restaurant with a friend of mine and we ordered onion rings to share. The onion rings came with some sort of bbq dipping sauce. I wanted to dip mine in a strawberry/vanilla swirl ice cream. It's my dipping flavour of choice. The waiter couldn't believe what I was ordering- he stared at me for about 30 seconds and asked me to repeat what I ordered.
"I said I'll have a bowl of strawberry/vanilla swirl ice cream, please bring it at the same time as the onion rings so I can dip them". He called over one of his other waiter buddies and told him what I had just said, and they both got a kick out of it.
I guess to me this combination is normal, but to them it was very, very odd. I ensured them that I wasn't a freak, I just have an odd sense of taste.
The other day I came back to the office with a baked potato with sour cream and a frosty. I was dipping the baked potato in the frosty, I told Chris about my lunch and he goes "and you think PIZZA tastes bad???"
I guess it looks different through other peoples' eyes!
Any weird eating habits?
