Defective Shirt

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

So I bought a shirt that's defective. Yes, defective.

I'm springing into spring fashion and I bought a tank top that has about 8 buttons going down the top of the shirt.

Here's the problem. The button holes were made too big, way too big for the small buttons... so the shirt keeps popping open. As much as this doesn't bother my male friends, it's getting really irritating. But, I've taken off the tags already and worn the shirt so I can't return it.

I always hated it when people would come back to a store I worked in returning something that was obviously used. I used to work at a Cosco-like store (I'm sure you know which one) years ago when I was in high school. I worked at the membership/refunds desk.

A man walked in with a huge bottle of Whey protein powder wanting to return it. All that was left in the bottle of Whey was about two scoops of powder. He had used the whole thing, then decided to return the teeny bit that was left. I called my manager... and she let him return it.

A friend of mine used to work in a clothing store. I'll never forget the story she told me about a woman who came in with a skirt she had bought a few days earlier. This woman had obviously worn the skirt- the tags were off and the skirt had also been altered. She had the nerve to come back and  try to return it.

After being yelled at because she wouldn't do the refund because the skirt was worn and altered, my friend called her manager, and the manager had to explain to the irrate woman why she couldn't return the skirt. Why this needed an explanation at all, I don't know... but I guess there will always be those customers who think they own the world and can get away with anything.

I don't want to be like one of those people who returns something that is already used.

Any seamstress's know what to do with my shirt?
