Sears National Kids Cancer Ride- Fashion Show In Barrie!

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

I cannot tell you how exciting it is to be a part of this event. I'm going to be emceeing a fashion show put together by a fabulous family here in Barrie in support of the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride. If you haven't heard about the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride before, here's some background information- thanks to Linda Campbell for sending the information to me so I can share it with you:

The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride is one of the biggest and most ambitious charity cycling events on behalf of childhood cancer in the world. On June 13, 2009, cyclists will start a 12-day, 7,000 km trans-Canada odyssey from Vancouver to Halifax. 36 selected National Riders will traverse the country, joined along the way by thousands of other caring cyclists who will cycle shorter distances along the way in cities across Canada. Together, our cyclists will raise millions of dollars on behalf of charities that improve the quality of life for children, and their families, living with and beyond cancer. Our destination - beyond cancer! Because the event is conducted primarily by volunteers in partnership with title sponsor Sears Canada, along with our other generous sponsors, administration and promotion expenses are minimal. This means that 100% of the money raised goes directly to worthy local and national charities in your community, including pediatric oncology centres and hospitals across the country.

Here's where our wonderful Barrie community comes in. Linda Campbell, her husband David and their fabulous daughter Erika have put together an incredible evening in support of Jim Ritchie, who is the national rider in the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride.

And so this brings us to the event happening right here in Barrie...a fashion show going on May 31st at The Roxx. And when I say fashion show, I mean this is a real fashion show- with supermodel Coco Rocha strutting her stuff on the catwalk. Now I'm not sure we'll be playing Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" as they do their little turn on the catwalk... but I can tell you this event is going to be incredible.

And we don't only have Coco Rocha coming out, there will be 20 other supermodels modeling spring fashions by Nygard and Liz Claiborne... I'm starting to feel the pressure of getting the right outfit for the evening!:) Also, the 2009 Sears National Kids Cancer Cyclists and Volunteers will also have a part in showcasing this year's designer cycling gear! And ladies you'll love this one...  The Barrie Fire Fighters calendar men will be at the event as well.

This is a night you do not want to miss out on- I cannot wait to be a part of this event. It's going to be an incredible evening and knowing it's all for a great cause makes the event even more special.
