With the weather getting colder, I decided that my dog Jet needed a coat. This is the first winter we've had her, she is a rescue dog so we aren't totally sure what kind of dog she is, she's mixed with a border collie for sure (because I've seen her mom) and I personally think a greyhound or a whippet. She eats and eats and eats and just has a very slim build (and can out-run ANY dog at the dog park... hence the name Jet)
With that said, I know that my cutie patootie slim-built pup is getting cold when she's outside. Before, we'd to try to get her back in the car after her run at the park, and it would take her a while because she didn't want to leave. Now she jumps in pretty quickly to get out of the cold. So last night, I took the trip to Petsmart and bought Jet a coat.
Now, keep in mind, I have never had a dog that needed a coat. I always thought that those types of dogs belonged to Paris Hilton. I've always had Rottweilers... and you try putting a coat on a rottweiler. Not necessary, and not fun. I know that my rottweilers would have gotten the coat off in a minute.
Here was a bit of an issue that I had: Jet is tall, has a long body and is very skinny. So jackets were either too wide on her or too short . Finally after searching I found a nice warm coat for her, left it on her in the car and she didn't try to take it off at all, she seemed completely comfortable in it. I think she's happy she has some extra warmth now, and will now probably want to spend double the time at the dog park!
