BLOCKER SHIELDS BACK BEFORE THE PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD
MIDHURST
6/20/2012
The future use of blocker shields in classrooms with some special needs students could be decided at tonight's meeting of the Simcoe County District School Board.
There are two motions on the table from the special education advisory committee.
One motion asks the board to stop using the protective equipment because it can negatively impact on the dignity and human rights of the students.
The other motion, among other things, urges the board to accept offers from various agencies to deliver alternative approaches when dealing with special needs children.
