A couple of days ago I was talking about ice cream for dogs on B101. It contains no milk, sugar or eggs... I thought that was a creative idea... but it has nothing on THIS!
Beer... for dogs?! (Yes, that's the title of my blog... I guess the suspense has already been ruined).
Bowser Beer's creator Jenny Brown got the idea for doggie beer after she was selling spicy pretzels at a farmer's market 5 years ago and customers were asking her if she could make peanut butter pretzels for their dogs. She then thought to herself... what goes better with pretzels than beer?!
So she created four beer recipes for her three dogs to taste test. One recipe was the clear winner, and the beer for dogs was born. Jenny said she feels like people have such an emotional bond with their dogs, so it's just natural to want to include them in the beer drinking process too.
Bowser Beer is non-alcoholic and non-carbonated. All ingredients are American made and the broth is made from scratch – no onions, salt or fat is added. The malt barley in Bowser Beer is good for shiney coats and glucosamine aids in joint health. And there may even be some new Bowser Beer flavours in the near future, including seafood, liver and bacon flavoured.
If you're wondering how your dog drinks the doggie beer... well... it's simple. You open up the 'beer bottle' and dump it into their water bowl... the brown coloured water will get slurped up in minutes!
Can you imagine how excited your dog would be to see Bowser Beer in place of water in his/her water bowl? I guess my pooch Snickers can now REALLY feel included at my next BBQ!
