MINORS TO BE BANNED FROM TANNING BEDS
TORONTO
3/7/2013
The governing Liberals in Ontario are expected to introduce a
bill today to ban people under the age of 18 from using tanning
beds.
A source tells The Canadian Press that the bill, to be tabled by
Health Minister Deb Matthews, is meant to protect minors from skin
cancer.
The Ontario Medical Association, which has been calling for a ban
since 2010, welcomes the pending legislation.
Dr. Samir Gupta, chairman of O-M-A's dermatology section, says
the evidence is clear that tanning bed radiation is linked to skin
cancer.
